چکیده

We characterize the existence of the group inverse of a two by two matrix with zero (2,2) entry, over a ring by means of the existence of the inverse of a suitable function of the other three entries. Some special cases are derived.

Suppose A(x), B(x) are 2×2 matrices on an interval [0, ∞) and C a constant diagonal matrix with ditstinct positive entries. Let U (x, t) be the matrix solution of the system of hyperbolic PDEs CU tt − AU x − BU = 0 on [0, ∞) × R with the initial condition U (·, t) = 0 for t < 0 and the boundary condition U (0, t) = δ(t)I 2. We prove a stability result for the inverse problem of recovering A, B ...

Representations and sign pattern of the group inverse for some block matrices

Let M= ( A B C 0 ) be a complex square matrix where A is square. When BCB = 0, rank(BC) = rank(B) and the group inverse of ( BAB 0 CB 0 ) exists, the group inverse of M exists if and only if rank(BC + A ( BAB ) π BA) = rank(B). In this case, a representation of M in terms of the group inverse and Moore-Penrose inverse of its subblocks is given. Let A be a real matrix. The sign pattern of A is a...
